EXCON: What Manufacturers and Importers Should Watch
Localisation, emission-driven content, aftermarket depth and distribution economics

For manufacturers and importers, an exhibition is a market survey compressed into a few days. Four themes are worth structured attention at EXCON.
Localisation
The practical question is not whether localisation is desirable but which components are genuinely qualifiable in India today, at what volume and at what cost. Walking the supplier halls with a specific component list produces better answers than general discussion.
Emission and safety-driven content
Regulatory transitions add cost and complexity to machines: aftertreatment, sensors, control electronics, operator protection. Importers in particular need to understand how compliance affects landed cost, service requirements and parts stocking.
Aftermarket depth
A machine is only as saleable as its parts and service support. Buyers evaluate dealer coverage, parts availability, warranty handling and technician capability. Manufacturers and importers should assess their own support position against what competitors are presenting.
Distribution economics
Dealer margins, inventory obligations, credit terms and territory design determine whether a distribution network grows or stalls. Conversations with prospective dealers at the show are a useful reality check on these terms.
A note on verification
Any commercial claim heard on a show floor, including capacity, certification or delivery commitments, should be verified in writing before it becomes a purchasing decision.
