Connected machines change the aftermarket. Fault data, utilisation data and service history make parts demand more predictable, which affects inventory planning for dealers and distributors as much as it affects OEMs.

Parts availability is a competitive weapon. Warehouse networks, dealer stocking policies, exchange and reman programmes and technician training all show up in machine uptime.
